        Rules

I highly respect Sam's work.  He has demonstrated intelligence, knowledge of Napoleonics, and creative wargame rule design.  That being said, just as no plan can survive contact with the enemy, no set of rules can survive contact with my gaming group.  Any suggestions for altering the GA rules presented here reflect my own opinion and not those of Sam Mustafa.  Unless otherwise stated, all changes I have made as to how I play the rules are intended to enhance my personal enjoyment of the game and are not a criticism of the rules for either historical accuracy or design.

House Rules (Clarifications and Standard Procedures):

HR1.0  Rough Terrain

HR1.1 Rough Terrain Movement Penalty - For all rough terrain, any part of a unit which is partially in rough terrain will cause that unit to pay the rough terrain movement penalty.

HR1.2 Rough Terrain Cover - A unit must be completely within the boundaries of rough terrain to get the full save for cover.  A unit which is partially covered (50%-99%), receives half the normal save.  A unit marginally in cover (1%-49%) receives no save from that cover.

HR2.0 Dead Space - Any unit located on an elevation has a targeting dead space equal to the distance from the unit to the edge of the elevation.  No overhead artillery fire is allowed, even if the friendly unit is located in dead space.

HR3.0  Measurements - All measurements for Skirmishing and Artillery fire are made from the closest point on the front edge of the firing unit to the closest point on the target.  All other measurements are made from closest point to closest point.

HR5.0  Reaction to Flank Attack - A unit contacted in the flank or rear will not turn to face until all movement for the pulse is done.  Only then will it be determined if it needs to turn to face to the flank or rear.
